Site owners need only to consider the following simple and straight forward tasks to ensure Google will successfully index your site when they next visit.
* The paragraph text on each page but especially your home page should be written for Google. That means using terms, phrases or statements that are the "hot button" words that browsers looking for products and services can find you. Have a think about what are the main search words used for your industry.
* The heading of the main paragraph should contain your main search term along with your name.
* Enter your title, site description and keywords for your home page. We see this quite a bit where client's old sites have never been completed in this area. In fact a lot of clients don't even know about this. Open up your site [or any site] and go to the top menu of your browser. If you are using Mozilla Firefox and go View / Page Source or Cntl-U. This page shows the code that builds your page. You will see title, site description and keywords at the top of the screen.
* Don't get clever! Never put white text on a white page that disguises search words. Google takes a dim view of this practice and has been known to black ban sites.
* Review your rankings every quarter. See where you rank using common terms for your industry. Look at what the top rankers are doing right. Emulate what you think is assisting the top sites in gaining good rankings. Update your site and submit to Google.
* Employ the services of a Search Engine Optimizer [SEO]. They know all the tricks and its surprising how quickly you can get up the rankings.
